Graham Sewell
Whilst trying to find the source of a resonating buzz at the front of the engine, I noticed that the alternator mounting bracket appears to move where it joins the engine block. The movement is very small and the 2 securing bolts appear to be tight. Is this normal or am I just turning paranoid? Cheers, Graham
Blackbirdman
Graham Are we talking xflow here? If so then it's not normal. Any chance the boss on the block has broken off? If not xflow then I have no idea Matt
Dave H
Graham, Remove the alternator and mounting bracket and check it over, it sounds like somethings broken - not uncommon, my xflow regularly broke alternator bits, when it wasn't shedding bolts. Asklepios
Graham, Bracket almost certainly fractured on one side of the slit.A common vibration induced defect. Best solution is a nice plastic from Roger King. Not cheap, but works very well.
