Type 9 gearbox shaft??

There are three input shafts used, short, long and a sort of hybrid. The first two are as designed by Ford, the short is from boxes destined for OHC engines in Sierras, the long is from boxes detined for V6 engines. Caterham chose to use the long one and compensated by making the bellhousing an inch longer.

Short and long are an inch different in length but the difference is in the plain bit before the spline, the splined bit plus the plain bit after the spline are the same, they just start nearer the box.

Then there's the one used by Vx and presumably K's in Caterhams, that's a long input shaft but with a shorter plain bit after the spline, the bit that goes into spigot bearing in the crank. For a Vx you need to cut 12mm of it, for a K it would appear a bit more. But you can always do a trial build and measure how much needs to come off.

As Quaife sell so many boxes for Vx and K's they've had a third sized input shaft made up to match the hybrid shaft. So if it's a new box from Quaife you could have ordered it pre-modded. But it works perfectly well home modded with an angle grinder.
