Steering column thingy

Does anyone have one of those clamps that holds the upper steering column to the long steering column rod? Dunno what they're called, but it's basically a square of metal with an upper steering column diameter hole drilled through the middle, the square is cut in half, and holes drilled through the bits so they can be bolted onto the upper column.

Used to be called a safety clamp or similar when used on Triumph Spitfire etc - allows the column to collapse a bit in a crash.

Caterham do them but at c.£25 I thought it worth checking if someone had one knocking about.

Caterham one used to be big, square and steel, presumably the Triumph part unmodified. Now it's small, with rounded edges and anodised alloy. Much improved. So if ypu're doing the Triumph thing it may not be exactly what you expect.

Try changing the title to column rather than rack. More likely to attract someone with what you need.

Steve: Good point 😳 I'm always getting those words muddled up.

 

Chelspeed: I want the big square type. Mine's ally though, but still square. If I can get a fancy rounded off one, I'll replace mine and use the square one for my project, i.e. as a base for mounting something behind the removeable wheel.
