5speed long first box

Simon.

I have a type 9 gearbox which was modified by BGH round six years ago. It was described by Brian Hill at this time as a uprated heavy duty 2.8 "Sporting Close". It has 2.83 (standard is 3.36) first gear then 1.81, 1.26,1.0 and .85. It has the modified gearchange and oil supply plus a drain plug and breather. All this work was done to brand new Caterham supplied gearbox and since then has covered approximately 25,000 road miles without any problems. The gearbox is in very good condition. It is at the moment fitted to my 2ltr Zetec but will be taken out over the next few weeks as I am waiting on a new aluminium 'box . I am wanting around £600 plus carriage for it.

It's terribly bad-form to intrude in this way, but for £600, BGH will overhaul your current five-speed with a long-first and choice of lowered-5th. This won't be a heavy-duty version, and *might* not have the lube upgrades, but it's worth a look...

My apologies for the highjack....
