Luke Beaumont
Has anyone got an unwanted VVC ECU around? Looking for much cheapness if at all possible, and if you've got the immobiliser rig to go with it that would be rather pink & fluffy. However, primary need is for the straight ECU. V7 SLR
Might not be much good in the short term, but Emerald are developing a replacement VVC ECU at the mo. Not when it'd be ready, speculation this side of Christmas, but it'll mean a lot more original VVC ECU's up for grabs then.
Luke Beaumont
Yeah, I'm canny to that one - would have one myself if they were available now!
V7 SLR
What's up with your current ECU then?
Tarek
Any one know what the advantages/disadvantages would be for us VVC owners?
V7 SLR
Advantages/disadvantages of what exactly?
Luke Beaumont
The current ECU is sub-optimally functional for some reason I've yet to discover. I just want to get the thing on the road ASAP. Tarek: if you mean the adv/dis of a programmable ECU for the VVC - the benefit would be that it should be possible to optimise the map to suit the car, exhaust, any head porting, and perhaps do trick stuff with the cam timing. On the downside, the VVC mechanism won't be up to producing the power of a hairy fixed cam, and if you upgrade to that, all the VVC related wiring and ECU controls will be redundant. I just want to get this thing running - next year I'll do the cam/management upgrade, at which point the VVC ECU will be bin fodder. I was hoping to catch someone in just that situation. Luke Beaumont
Damn, it was you who offered me one before. Curse this brain of mine. Anyway, I should have closed this thread off as I sourced one from the startlingly efficient Rover Spares Norfolk. And lo, tonight, she started up! SVA here we come!
