Is that's not reached by bids, the seller is not obliged to sell to the highest bidder. If the minimum bid is 50 quid without further reserve, he's obliged to sell to anyone bidding that minimum amount. Reserve price auctions may start at one quid, but the limit remains hidden until it's reached. I personally find reserve price auctions unsportsmanlike, they're not allowed on eBay Germany, either.
