Ally
To make the front suspension more adjustable, both Chelspeed and myself have had some Rod-ends specially made by Autosport Bearings and Components (ABC) to replace the top balljoint, so we do not have to struggle splitting the balljoint to adjust the camber. The rod-ends were specially manufactured with a thread to fit the standard Caterham Wishbone. I can e-mail anybody a photo if interested in the solution. Chelspeed has run the solution all year. You can always contact Graham Kemp at Autosport Bearings and Components tel. 01932 225777 (e-mail: grahamkemp@autosport-bearings.co.uk) if interested since they have some left in stock. The part number is GAXSW16 X 1 MS Special. We paid £73.17 each nett. He will offer a better price if enough people are interested.

Harry Flatters
What do you do about the taper in the upright? Do you drill it out or do you supply a sleeve? *arrowright*Harry Flatters *arrowright* AKA Steve Mell of Su77on Se7ens and Surrey Joint AO
Ally
Harry: You can drill out the taper, but Chelspeed had some tapered spacers made up, so we could always revert back to the standard caterham set-up if required. I will e-mail photos to Peter T, since I have found his e-mail address. He can always forward them on to other people if required. I suggest if a few people are interested, that one person is contacts Graham Kemp at Autosport Bearings and Components tel. 01932 225777 (e-mail: grahamkemp@autosport-bearings.co.uk) to negotiate for everbody. Un fortunately, I am away for the next few weeks.
Chelspeed
I've got one tapered spacer that you could borrow to get your local engineering company to copy. Cost me £35 quid for a pair from my local company. Suggest whoever co-ordinates the rose joint purchase borrows the spacer and gets the relevant number of spacers made up. Freestyle also supply these spacers as part of their super widetrack front wishbone kit. They may or may not be willing to supply them on their own. Peter T
Ok, spacer does not seem to be a major problem, cheaper if we get more done. Support the 7 Society...... Ehhh?

Chelspeed
> e mail details should be listed above. Well yes..... and no. Unless I'm being particulalrly un pc-literate the links allow me to send email direct from L&OC forums but not attach photos. I need to know the actual address to mail from Outlook and attach photos. Jason Plato
I'm also having a kit made up by Hellier Performance to convert the top ball joint - these will be feely available off the shelf within a few weeks . The pieces will replace the taper joint top wishbone with a bearing mount and a sleeve will fit inside the wishbone to allow the use of a male thread and bearing . Chelspeed
Dave - You planning to make an adaptor with M16x1 external male thread (same as the current ball), screw it into the standard wishbone and drill and tap the centre of it to take a standard male rose joint, is it 1/2 inch? If so then that was my first thoughts. I got as far as doing it, cut the threaded bit of an old ball joint, started drilling and tapping it. But it would have ended up really thin, the hole up the middle was too big in comparison to the external diameter, looked very feak and weeble... The next option was a hybrid rosejoint with big ball but smaller (7/16?) shaft. Fitted OK but the shaft didn't look right to me, too thin. So I went for the custom joint with M16x1 thread. Ideally you'd just get the wishbone drilled and tapped 1/2 unf but that's not an option unless you're getting new wishbones. I'd really be interested to see what you end up with. F355GTS
Chelspeed/ Dave Goldstar racing sell this solution as a kit, I believe that Steve Mell has it fitted? IIRC price is around £130 for the set Mark
Jason Plato
Yes , as you describe Graham . Using a threaded sleeve in the wishbone and a 7/16 thread for the ball joint . Then another bush to replace the taper . Having studied the specs for Goldline joints the 7/16 should be OK - think of it as a weight saving . cost should be a lot less than £130 . Ally
Dave When we looked into it, the 7/16 rod-end spec was marginal for loading, especially if you attack curbs.
Harry Flatters
Steve Mell here, 'Tis true I have the Goldstar solution and 'tis also true that I had a loading problem with the 7/16 UNF ball-joint shaft under severe braking loads Since replacing the ball-joint with a much better quality (NMB) i have had no problems at all. But, I do agree, you look at them and think,"bit skinny?" *arrowright*Harry Flatters *arrowright* AKA Steve Mell of Su77on Se7ens and Surrey Joint AO
