Justin Andrews
I need replacement main and big end bearings for a 1700 xflow. (Also replacement bolts as are the one use only?) Where can I buy these from? The engine was sourced from Caterham when I bought the kit in '95 (originally brand new 1600cc) and they upgraded in '96 to 1700cc with a dry sump. If anyone knows the best make of bearings and place to get these from, please let me know. Cheers
oilyhands
Get them from Burtons www.burton-power.co.uk, if possible get the Vandervell lead-indium type shells known as VP2, they are a heavy duty bearing compared to the normal reticular tin 'glacier' bearings. The only downside is that they are marginally more susceptible to acid attack from combustion products in the oil, regular oil changes will pretty much nullify the affect. They will be no different the the regular 1600 xflow bearings. They can also supply Cosworth or heavy duty rod bolts. Oily
