Help needed to take the Rover ECU plug to bits

Red SLR

Recommended Posts

Simon,

this is from memory, as I have just thrown out my extra wire with the Rover style crimp on it.

The crimp will probably have a barb on it which keeps it in the housing. For you to remove the crimp, you need to depress the barb. This needs to be done by inserting from the connector side a narrow watch makers screw driver or something sililar. This should depress said barb and make removal simple.

Just as Andrew says. Get a very thin jewelers screwdriver. If you tension the wire you can slide the blade on top of the metal termination and lever it down - you cant see the barb but if you keep the wire tight it will suddenl release and come out of the plug. The job is reversable if you havent vandalised the termination.
