Silver 21
Just been talking to Steve Perks at SPC (advertises in LF) about rebuilding my axle and in conversation he mentioned he now does a mag belhhousing suitable for xflow and zetec installations, it weighs 2Kg, the standard boat anchor version wighs 11kg 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳. Easy weightsaving here if you want to part with your cash 😬. This is not intended as an advert it just came up in conversation so I thought I would mention it on Blatchat, Graham Competition Secretary 2005 Speed Championship - 12 Events and Growing

Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted November 10, 2004 Leadership Team Share Posted November 10, 2004 Hmmm, The Alloy is more lime 4.somethink kg and a bit more than £100 also. Probably still a lot cheaper than the magnsesium one, anyway. Mind you, carbon, magnesium ... GREAT pub brag words Michael.

Scalper
I've called Steve and he told me that his xflow magnesium bell housing is made for the Ford type 9 five speed gearbox. my car (1990 L.A.) has a 4 speed box (which I believe is the standard ford escort sport gearbox). could someone please tell me if the magnesium bellhousing will fit my gearbox. Area Representative Crudders Posted November 11, 2004 Area Representative Share Posted November 11, 2004 Enrico - if you have the standard Escort Sport 4 speed box then the bellhousing and gear case are cast as a single unit, so upgrading is not an option. I have this box in my car, albeit with Quaife SCCR gear set, and cast iron it may be but it makes up for that by being extrememly compact Richard []=*(#7#)*=[] b-r-a-a-a-a-r-p! chrisb
What exactly is involved to change this part over? I might be interested.....
Ken elle
Not a lot, just engine/gearbox out, split, undo 4 bolts that hold it on the gearbox, then put it all back.
Bilbo
Interesting is it the RS 2000 format that needs mods or bespoke to Xflow. It would be a lot stronger than the ally one ❗ Still I have already put in my letter to Santa.... Wonder if the Easter Bunny could get me one 'Can you hear me running' ......... Normans_Ghost
Chris, if you don't get too pissed on Saturday night down West St. I'll let you fondle a cast iron version and you can see just how easy it is to change.
