Geoff Dixon
Am tempted by the thread that is currently running re 13 inch wheels to replace my 14 inch. Have just uipgraded by 1.6K series to in excess of 200bhp. Wondering how wide I should go with 13 inch wheels and whether the SLR Magnesium type are worth the expense. If they are does anyone know where Caterham get them from cause I would prefer not to pay as much as they are asking
Alex Wong1697456877
It depends what you mean by worth the expense. I would think that anything in excess of 7 inches at the rear would be excessive and 6's are all you need at the front. K&N's all round in these sizes would cost a whisker over 200 quid. R500 wheels after VAT are nearer £1000. They are lighter and look nice but I've yet to be convinced that they'll make you go faster. My driving just isn't close enough to the limit to notice the difference. I run 6inch front and 7inch rears on CR500's, ACB10's and slicks and the car is not undertyred despite 240BHP. Having said that, I've just got some 8.5 inch rears for curborough....... smile.gif Alex

Alex Wong1697456877
BTW, the rules state that the tyres should be in list 1b, not that they should be E-marked. The joys of being competition sec....... teeth.gif Alex
