jackb_ms
Hi I had a close look in the Demon tweeks on-line catalogue and I cannot find studs to fix the exhaust manifold to the head. do someone has a part number for them? Where can I get them from? Cheers Jack Emily, The Very Yellow
mightymetros
Hi Jack, i just use some black cap heads fromthe local nut and bolt store such as infast. They are certainly easier to loosen than bolts!!!! sacha preparing for a barrage of insults why you shouldnt use cap heads *eek* Edited by - mightymetro on 10 Nov 2004 09:15:
jackb_ms
Hi Sacha What are "black cap heads"? I'm a bit puzzle by what they are. And I've got a thread which is slightly damage, this is why I want to fit some "studs" for fear of breaking of the remaining of the thread Jack Emily, The Very Yellow
oilyhands
They are M10 shouldered studs and will be available from your local Rover dealer, it's worth shortening them by 10-12mm to make fitting the manifold easier, dont use bolts or capscrews, the risk to the threads is too great. I have a number of them kicking around here... Black cap heads are socket headed capscrews, the type that take an allen key or hex bit. jackb_ms
Cheers Oily I'll go to the local dealer at lunch break Jack Emily, The Very Yellow
John Howe
... and if you have had a thread problem, run a tap through the hole first. This will not only clear the rubbish out of the way, but clean the threads up. It then might pay you to think about using a thread locking compound on the studding. Oily's comment on shortening the studding is well worth noting! JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 222bhp Sausage delivery machine
