Oh, I thought it was a 3/4 version of Sgt Pepper.

I wish I wouldn't say them as well Norman.

The only doubt over my lad going to AMMO's is the timetable for his new year exams. Provided the dates don't clash, I will most probably drive up to collect him then scoot across country to AMMO's.

Thought we might then stay over somewhere to join AMMO for a curry and help him celebrate his birthday in a worthy fashion.

EBT, wasn't pink by any chance?

I took my test in a cousins Austin 1100 driving school car when I went for the 3rd test. The first I failed because I had hair down past my shoulders (In 1964 this wasn't fully accepted yet),the fail was "wrong speed for prevailing conditions" - going to slow! ME! The second guy failed me for same reason, the failure sheet read "insufficient knowledge of Highway code" He must have asked me over 15 questions and only stopped when I got one wrong.

The 3rd test saw me with short back & sides, a suit (first suit I'd ever owned) and in a driving school car. Test took about 20 minutes, 3 questions on HC and complimented on being a good driver. I wish I could have seen his face as I screamed away from the centre as he was getting into his next victim's car.

All this and I'd been driving on the road in a TVR Grantura (MGA engined) since I was 15!

[misty eyed mode on]

Ah the Vauxhall Cresta what a passion wagon that was 😬 and made all the better for that by column gearchange with bench seats. A veritable triumph of engineering showing deep design thought by the designers. 😬

None of this having to leap in the back malarkey......oh no. A deft sideways foot movement on the seat adjuster et voila acres of room in the front with no gearlever to pierce you in the nether regions at the wrong moment. 😬

[/misty eyed mode off]

In actual fact it could apply to the other..

We had been to Platters in Reading for a frothy coffee after school

I was in my Bluecoats uniform , she was in the Abbey Girls uniform.

She missed her train to Cholsey , I drove her home

Nice lay by between Pangbourne and Goring (that loverly side road that now goes up to the Royal Berkshire shooting school)

No home work got done that night

Smile back on face

😬

When you realise the worlds not nice just drop your pants and slide on the ice!!!
