STEVE GILBERT

Recommended Posts

96 2litre Zetec DeDion, Any recommendations as to the position of the Radius Arm. Also what other Geometry changes or improvements can be made to this set up and how?. The rear of the car is currently all in bits so now is the time to make any popular changes!

Other useful info include Std Bilstien Dampers, springs, 170 and 260 lb, half inch rear roll bar 18mm front roll bar

Well, I do hope the 170lb/in springs are on the back! This is a very high spring rate for a road car and you could possibly get away with softer which would give you better traction.

The radius arms should go in the lower position and be set up horizontal on their bushes. The rear ride height gives a very sensitive adjustment of the roll steer of the de Dion tube, so you should experiment as it is quick to do: higher gives oversteer and feels *very* nervous. Start high and lower until the car all of a sudden feels stable - hey presto perfect rear steer setup.

Don't go too stiff on the rear ARB: second softest on each side should ba about as far as you need to take it, but you are balancing a stiff front end.
