adrain
Waht sizes is the allen key thingies at the bottom of the front dampers and top rears 🤔 (2002 SV.) They seem like imperial sizes to me, which is a bit odd. If so, where to you get the keys to fit a 1/2 inch sq drive?? Frying Pan
Front lower is 5/16" Can't remember what the rear uppers are (if not as above) Guy See some pictures of the build here. 4000 miles completed!
Support Team Shaun_E Posted November 3, 2004 Support Team Share Posted November 3, 2004 Top rear is 3/8". Halfords sell them on a sort of keyring affair so not that good quality but ok for the job. I couldn't find a 1/2" drive allen key in imperial sizes. I used the Halfords one and hit it with a rubber mallet to "break the seal" and was then able to do it by hand. I think Guy is right about the front lower. Yellow SL #
Ray Pearce
Assuming that you have imperial size sockets, then just buy a cheap set of imperial allen keys, cut off a length of the key (it's easier to cut cheap ones) and use it in the matching sized socket. F355GTS
Adrian if your lower fronts are anything like Angus's you'll need an air impact wrench to get them out Sizes quoted are spot on 5/16 and 3/8 and i did as Ray suggested Mark

adrain
Thanks very much, chaps. I've now found a key for the the fronts, I'm sure there's a 3/8" somewhere here in the back of the garage . I was just puzzled that they should be imperial sizes on a 2002 build car - just a Caterham quirk ❗ Large viperblue/yellow 1.6 S/S

_Tim_
5.5mm is an exact fit if you have only metric. - Tim - 2004 evo Caterham Academy, Group 2 Runner Up build diary here
