Andrew_Bailey
Discovered today (after investigating horrible noise) that the bolt used to attach (what I think are) the 'A Frame' struts to the chassis at the very back of the car had sheared. Having ordered a replacement I hope that I have no idea what caused this problem in the first place. Caterham gave me the impression that it is very unusual. I have only had the car two weeks so I have no idea whether this is the first and only time it has happened or whether the car may have been decked at some time prior to me taking it over. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Do any of you know of some obvious reason for this happening that I could check out?
stevefoster
Only heard of very early Ital axles (a duff batch) shearing at the diff attachment. Never what you describe. Have you checked that bolt is 8.8 = high tensile steel. 12.7 or is it 12.9 is even higer grade.
