Nick Whitlam
I have just fitted D2H throttle bodies, DTA ecu and uprated cams to a 1600cc K series engine. I have power to everything, the engine is wanting to crank over, but the car will not fire into life, occasionally it will backfire through the induction system. So I have come to the conclusion that the timing must be out? QED have not mentioned any thing about the timing. Can any one tell me what the cam timing should be? A quick response would be appreciated as I am hoping to run at curborugh on the 25th/26th
kenny.
No real answers to this one Nick, I was lucky with my DTA and QED cam VX conversion, but if I was in your position, on a rainy Sunday with nowhere open, I'd stick standard cams back in on standard settings and see what happens to eliminate or confirm your theory. I'm saying that based on the VX motor where a cam swap(after loads of practice) can be done in half an hour. Ignore me if it's not as simple on K. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one. oilyhands
The lobe centres for road cams for the K are normally around 108-110 degrees ATDC, try setting the lift at TDC to around 110 thou on the inlet and 90 thou on the exhaust, that will be 'safe', there is a procedure for doing this at http://members.aol.com/DVAndrews/kengine.htm Follow the link on the page.
