old captain slow
The MSA year book and the Comp Sec both say a catch tank is needed. Caterham, however, say they don't fit, and there is no need to fit a catch tank on a K-series engine as it breathes directly into the inlet manifold. Any views? If I do need one, do I block off one of the two pipes and direct the other to the catch tank?
Alex Wong1697456877
One of you K-series people must know the answer to this. I'm still not sure whether the k-cars need a catch bottle. From what I've heard it sounds unlikely. Anybody with a k-car that's gone through MSA scrutineering please reply. We don't want any disapointments on the day! Lawrence_Z
IIRC the Blue book requires the capacity of the catch tank to be a minimum 1 litre. It does not state any requirement to have one. Lawrence Hoy Scottish AO smile.gif
Mike Bees
I've seen plenty of people sprinting wet-sumped no-catch-tank K's without any scrutineering problems. Mike
old captain slow
Thanks for the replies. Seems to clear it up ie don't need one on K-series
Alex Wong1697456877
I agree that this seems to be the case. I'll just check with our scrutineer asap but having spoken to a few people, I suspect you're right and that you don't need a catch bottle with the K-series.
