duffym Posted October 21, 2004 Share Posted October 21, 2004 Hi , just bought first Caterham but it is very noisy. The existing silencer has no baffles in it. Does anyone have an unwanted silencer (for a reasonable price) which would go on. Current one is 2" outside diameter side exit 36" long from joint to 60 degree bend (inc empty box)and then 9" of side exit I'm skint after buying the car so need a low budget solution ! Your description is for a std fitment silencer - they dont have baffles but are packed with a fiberglass based material . This will burn out after a while . You wont be able to repack it without cuting it open and then rewelding it . The silencers are available in several diameters , I would suggest a 5" or 6" diamenter woudl suit your application . Battered old Supersport , had thought of repacking not sure how long it would last and dont have welding facilities.
