YellowSeven
What oil and water teperatures are deemed as normal in a K series Caterham? (Car has appollo & standard rad) When mine is driven hard I see about 100'c Oil Temp and about 80-90'c Water temp Is this normal? If so what is considered high? What oil temps should you be seeing before considering an oil cooler & triple core rad? If not what can I do to lower them apart from the above? Cheers
CharlesElliott
Sounds fairly normal to me. On track I see ~90 water and over 100 oil temps (sometimes well over 100, depending on the circuit). Support Team Shaun_E Posted October 18, 2004 Support Team Share Posted October 18, 2004 Those are normal temps. High would be 120+ oil and 105 water which is about what I used to get on track before fitting a better rad and a Laminova. Yellow SL #
Mr Locust
A large manufacturer of diesel engines we use in applications for work typically tend to state 110 C max top hose temp and 125 C continuous oil rail temp in application sign offs. With 135 C oil rail temp allowed on an intermittent duty cycle only. And thats with ordinary, cooking grade 10W40 CG4 grade mineral oil and a 500 hr oil change interval.
