6 speed box still poor 2nd gear

I've 3.7K on the 6 speed (2004) .... still not happy with 2nd gear selection both up and down the box. I have to miss 2nd altogether when cold as it simply refuses to select. Once box is warm I still can't get an easy 2nd gear... it's as if the synchro mesh is bucked.... it just doesn't click into gear with the light palm pressure like the other gears. You've got to physically pull it in. As you pull it into the gear you can feel through the gearstick a lack of 'meshing' as it finally seats home.

Does anyone else have similar problems. If so what was your action?

I'll strip the box out some night this week and check 2nd gear, synchro and rings for discolouration etc. If I need parts were's best to look?

Phil Stewart will only charge you £75 labour to strip, clean and rebuild the box. if it needs a syncro they are about £30 again Phil can supply or CC Parts. As the syncros are brass on the 6 speed I doub`t you will see any discolouration. What you should be looking for is wear or damage.
