Rob Walker
Caterham 8% uprated steering rack ( 1.9 turns lock to lock ) comes with steering rod extensions so can be used on either standard or widetrack suspension. I want £125 for it. could deliver to Mallory on the 21st Oct or Silverstone 8th Nov. Rob
Silver 21
Rob I thought the 8% was the standard rack and the 22% was the uprated one, if its one of these I would be interested Graham Competition Secretary 2005 Speed Championship - 12 Events and Growing
mav
BB, The 8% Uprated rack is now the std rack, but is still referred to as the 8% uprated item...
MJ
What would an 8% rack set you back new from say CC's??? Would it fit an '87 5spd de-dion x/flow??? Someone said my car had a Metro 😳 rack as std - is this true and does this affect which type of quickrack can be fitted???
Rob Walker
Bacon Butty, The standard rack has 2.2 turns lock to lock, the 8% (1.9 turns lock to lock ) is referred to as an uprated or quick rack suitable for road used, the 22% ( 1.4 turns lock to lock ) also referred to as a uprated/quick rack and is not recomended by Caterham for road use ( see CC web site ). It is also true that the 8% was fitted as standard on certain cars 1997 onwards. CC charges £185 plus vat IIRC. I can`t see any reason why it would not fit on a 87 model. MJ
Rob Does it come with all the bits & bobs (if any) to fit straight on to the car? I will confirm if fitment on an 87 de-dion is possible and get back to you.
Tyrone
MJ, I have fitted a new 22% rack to my Post86Pre89TDDXF (see post in TechTalk, I'm pushing for that register) without a hitch, so the 8% wouldn't be a problem. You will need some new mounting brackets probably.
