julians
Can anyone with the bilstein suspension (on height adjustable platforms) narrow track tell me what the distance is between the bottom of the bump stop and the top of the damper body ( ie the bit that the bump stop hits when it has travelled too far). I have just fitted the adjustable height platforms, and I didnt take any notice of how much there was before, I only noted the current ride height, but now when the car is set at the correct ride height, there is only about 1cm between the bottom of the bump stop and the damper body. I have just driven the car and its not hitting the bump stops, but it just seems that this gap should be larger. Anyone??
julians
and also , is there an easy way to adjust them, using just the C spanner the platforms just rotate on the spindle, whats the knack?
CHRIS CLARK
The 'spindle' has a pair of flats machined into the lower section. You need to hold the 'spindle' as you turn etc. I assume you have jacked up the front end too when adjusting to take the weight off the springs? Can't give you a definitive length/clearance as I have a '94 chassis which has the shorter dampers than the later type!!!
