julians
I have a quaiffe s/c box, and recently I've noticed a rattle/resonance which happens at certain revs, it stops if you hold the gearlever so I'm presuming its nothing important, just a loose linkage or somesuch. Just wondering if anyone knows what it is. It occurs in any gear except 4th,(4th is the only gear which doesent whine, I presume this is normal), the rattle is loudest in fifth and quietest in first and occurs when you rev between 3500 and 4000rpm. It goes away if you press the clutch, and as I have said if you hold the gear lever. The box seems fine, it changes smoothly, everything else seems OK. Any ideas? EFA
Chatter within the gearsets in the selected gears causes the selector to rattle. In 4th is a direct connection hence no rattle.
