Chelspeed
Do you mean a coil? Or a coil pack? Coil packs are used with dizzyless wasted spark systems. If so and it really is running on three then I don't think it's the coil pack that's gone t*ts up. Wasted spark systems fire the plugs in pairs so it's either running on two or it's OK or it's something else wrong. If it is the coil pack then many aftermarket wasted spark systems use a Ford Fiesta coil pack, they may be cheaper? SBD charge £48 for this new, is that what you consider too much? Presumably a coil pack is a coil pack is a coil pack? They all have 4 HT leads, an earth for the LT side and a trigger for each coil. Find one off any car in the scrapper thats cheap enough and change the plug on the LT system to match.
GJones
Hi Chelspeed. Thanks for the advice. I assumed it was the coil pack as it was only No 2 which did not have a spark all the other cylinders are OK. The coil pack also got very hot before the cylinder went down. I have changed the lead and plug, but it made no difference. Bosch wanted over £300 for a coil pack. I will contact SBD to see if the Fiesta one will do the job. Peter T
Are you sure that you are talking about a coil pack ? £300 for a Bosch unit is a little steep mate, are you thinking of an ECU ? Support the 7 Society...... Ehhh?
