simonray
Can anyone tell me the minimum width for standard discs. Also, are Mark 4 Spitfire discs direct replacements. I'm fitting new calipers and pads and don't want to have to change discs and pads again in the near future. Thanks. Simon
CHRIS CLARK
I think Spit MKIV should be OK as the original 7 fitment was Triumph 'Herald. Spitfires are same bits in a different shell. Fun car; happy memories.........aaahhhh. As to the width, are you referring to the width across the disc (or as I rather think) the thickness of the disc? I have a new pair in workshop so can measure these if req.!
Taran Las
Chris, If you are going to measure them, I'd be interested in the findings. Thanks phil Owen.
simonray
I think they're 10mm or so new. What I was interested in was how thin they can get before they have to be changed. Simon
philwaters
"I'm fitting new calipers and pads" does mean you are fitting big brakes? I think the Alcon ones use the standard discs don't they? If you have to fit new discs (depending on how much wear you have) then these will work fine with the current and then the new Alcon calipers.... btw - Areoscreens will be fitted tonight - although I am waiting for one last mirror (out of stock) Phil Waters Q181 ABL - 1600 X/F smile.gif
CHRIS CLARK
Right. The new discs measure 9.4 mm thick and have a suggested replacement dimension of 8.3 mm. They are 231 mm wide (across the face).
Taran Las
Chris, Thanks for that information - I'll have to start measuring things now! Regards Phil Owen.
