Peter R Shaw
I am thinking of attending a track day at Anglesey in September ....the limits on noise are 105db 45degrees from exhaust at 3/4 power ..... any one have a similar car to mine with any experience of how noisy they are ?? robbieclark
Depends on type of exhaust, state of exhaust etc and I guess engine tune/setup, mine was 109dB with 3year old 6000mile caterham exhaust (larger size side exit) but was much quieter when exhaust was new and my car does lots of banging and flames on the over-run. Now have raceco can so much quieter. But unless exhaust is knackered should be able to pass 105dB. I guess.
rgrigsby
I doubt you'll have a problem at anglessey although you probably will be over 100dB... Rob G www.SpeedySeven.com
puremalt
I was 99.8 dB last year, and Strongy with a radical exhaust was 107 I think. These were at 4000rpm at the exhaust. Around 100 should be normal, whatever normal is. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
MonkeyBoy
My 1700SS with rear exit exhaust was around 105, too loud for Castle Combe so i'm playing around with a Supertrap at the moment.
Joe 90
Don't think they're too fussy at Anglesey SEP field working, not spotted in 102,400 miles. Some photos on webshots, updated 10 June

Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted September 1, 2004 Leadership Team Share Posted September 1, 2004 Peter I went to Oulton Park on 28 June with very loud xflow. the dB limit was 105db. The track official put me down as 104.9 😬 😬 😬 I asked him what the correct reading was later but he said he'd have to shoot me if he told me 😬 My 7 is 13years old and is still on the first silencer - hence the reason why I'm about to purchase a new one from Powerspeed Rog

KDEANO
My 1700 xflow with an old sports exhaust clocked up 102db at Bedford a couple of weeks ago. 105 limit should be plenty. That said, I'm fitting a Raceco later this month to get down to the magic 97db.
Irrelevant
FWIW . . . . mine always seems to be 93db at anywhere between 4500 and 5500rpm It's a 4:1 with a big Raceco can. Accumulating bits . . .

J A T Richardson
I was worried about my exhaust noise, so tried to contact Brands Hatch to see if I could take the car down pre-trackday to test it (I'd HATE to go to a trackday, then be thrown off for noise). After 15 referrals, I was told: "take it to an MOT centre; they all have noise meters". The car promptly blew its head gasket, so I haven't done this, but it may be worth a go. strongy
113 dB last year before I changed from my old competion exhaust. Even Millwood said "Bl**dy hell thats loud" at MOT time. Cheers Strongy - trying my best to convince 'er indoors that there's no need to sell it
