World of pain!

Right now is the time to shine guys! I am a complete numpty when it comes to engines and stuff so I am hoping you clever 7 chaps may be able to shed some light on a tricky situation.

I have a 1600 K series with a six speed box, every now and then when I drive it real hard I end up with a puddle of what would seem to be some form of transmission oil on the garage floor directly under the seats! I took my baby to Arrow Star and they couldn't find any leakage what so ever. Presuming that it may have been a one off I drove it again and noticed an even bigger puddle when I got the car out to check it tonight.

You can't see it dripping, and just as sod intended it when you go to the specialists she decides to behave! Any ideas on what it could be or should I be jumping on Caterham as the car is only just out of waranty?

Thanks a million for any advice!

Numpty Mat.

I bet it's the main oil seal on diff.......I fitted a suretrack 18 months ago, and found it had a gravity leak (i.e. puddle on garage floor after 36 hours)...took the bugger out out again and put a new seal in after checking surfaces.....still leaked.

Did it one more time.......still leaks.

Decided to leave it now as leak has slowed a lot as oil level is now probably to bottom of seal...(hope that's enough oil for safety)

It never seems to leak when on the move..just when car is laid up.

Thanks for all the responses guys, the oily stuff (once again Mat shows his motor skills off to their full potential) is a darkish yellow and quite thick. I have driven the car today and the gear box seems fine, as far as I can tell there is no signs of any problems - yet to see how much leaks overnight though!
