TorAtle
(also posted to the sevens list - car is 1.6K) ...chasing electrical gremlins. Eariler this week I hacked the wiring loom in the engine bay, today I removed the scuttle and ended up with what must be over a kg of unwanted wires / black boxes! Still the same problem though - once warm I get what I think is a temporary short, most of the times short enought to just drop 500-1000rpm but sometimes long enough to stop the engine. Are everything in a car fused? I ask because I tried to remove all the fuses except fuel pump and ECU and it didn't work any better. There's one 4mm brown wire going from the battery via the ECU fuse and back to the relay - permanent 12V. There's also an even larger brown wire going from the battery to a common point under the dash. Must be 4 or 5 small brown wires going from that point to different electrical components, and I guess they all run via the fuse box. So a sanity check - shall I focus on the engine bay and the wires going to the fuel pump, or do I need to think about the rest of the loom too? Back to the scuttle, I recall someone having one with aeroscreens and one with a windshield, claiming only 15 minutes to swap. What mounting points do you use? 3 bolts on the engine side through the holes for the rivets and 2 on each side? Tor Atle
