7
Do any of you blatchatters know of a good source for Ali Nosecone and Wings, other than Caterham? At what cost? I would also be interested your experiences of stone damage on the Ali rear wings. Is it noticable on the Ali rear wings? Have you found a cunning way to overcome this issue? Thanks in Advance

Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted August 24, 2004 Leadership Team Share Posted August 24, 2004 Mike Riley (Metal Mickey) is a master craftsman who has made the ali wings and nose on his car (and restores some SERIOUS historic machinery). He could be a good person to talk to. Michael.
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted August 24, 2004 Area Representative Share Posted August 24, 2004 Otherwise look out for Gaspipe who IIRC also has an aluminium nose and wings on his car. HTH Nick Yellow HPC - A 2.0 VX - 😬
Irrelevant
There was a special edition of 5 that were all ally - was it the 'Jubilee', made in the late 90s Caterham had one for sale recently. They look lovely but you'd be obliged to polish it all the time. Accumulating bits . . .

Simon Piercy
007, My son has put together some pics of our car. Mileage is just 10,000 and although there are quite a few little stone marks on the rear wings, they're not bad and certainly not worth doing anything about. http://timsphotos.fpic.co.uk/c186014.html Cheers, Simon

k.russell
007, think Xantos is in deep south west, devon or cornwall, always used to show at lotus events with restored and remanufactured chassis etc. kevin R J457 DNU black-ali HPC

Andy Wiltshire
Re your questions about the aluminium nose and wings, I have just finished making a full set for myself and they do look nice. I am shortly looking at producing these in numbers and can make the following to a high standard; nosecones, front cycle wings, front sweeping wings, and rear wings. The width of the wings can be to the customers spec, and they will be supplied either polished or ready for painting. I have yet to establish the prices but these should be similar to the carbon fibre items, and if required I can fit. If you are interested give me a call, Andy Wiltshire, Axminster Specialist Panels, tel 01297 33562, or 07981 259037. Xantos was run by Henry Tombs from Seaton in Devon, but he's sold the business with the seven side going to Alan Wesson in Exeter trading under the name Xtraspecialsevens. Henry had those alloy parts made by a chap from Dorset.
