Myles
What a bunch of 🙆🏻 Gas hobs are sh!te. I hate them. You can't turn them down low-enough for some things, they don't heat evenly across the base of a pan, you have to light the bl**dy things, they can blow your flat up, what is the s*dding point Instant heat? Is that it? Pah! Keep BC free and open for ALL. Membership No. 43xx Alcester Racing 7's Equipe - 🙆🏻™ Alcester-Racing-Sevens.com

mav
Gas is much much better for hob top cooking and electric for ovens
Myles
Grrr!. Yes - I was heating up Tuesday's bolog sauce - that was OK, but getting the pan for the (capaletti - not spag) heated up was a nightmare. The pan was probably a bit small - so all the heat was going up the sides - and the damned thing just wouldn't get to a boil. Pah! Keep BC free and open for ALL. Steve-B
as someone with a chefs degree i can attest to the viability of gas i can also heartily endorse good pans as the only way you'll ever get comfortable with gas Steve B Big Black Beast^3 Lighten up everybody....NOW USA 2005: How the West Was Driven
KevSull Too
's funny that when you see dual fuel cookers, they're never electric hob and gas oven! There is a reason! neil.cavanagh
dudes... get with the times.. gas is so 1980s. what you want is electric induction hob. the hob itself isn't hot. magnetic fields DIRECTLY heat the saucepan bottom. result: instant, controllable heat and no burnt on spills as hob isn't hot! FH
Pah! real cooks, cooks wiv gaz, Myles If you've got a big "ring" you need to have the correct tool Flames should never lick around the sides Size matters 😬 Anyway, as you're presently in Scotland, you should have been cookin' haggis and neeps and tatties not some foreign muck FH Edited by - FH on 20 Aug 2004 10:38:
Violet Elizabeth
Have you been watching too many Carry On films FH ? Induction is clever, but nothing beats a great big wok burner for really frying things hard, plus how do you get cool chefy flames ? And with a 6 burner gas range, you can have two of the burners occupied with a big griddle pan for bacon and tomatoes, leaving 4 for sossiges, beanz, mushies, scambled eggies. Potato wedges in the oven. Food of the gods ! Shaka Kahn ? Shaka Kahn ? I feel for you

Violet Elizabeth
No, but I shall be peeking from now on ! When brekkie again ?? [foodie wibble] Don't "do" beans You should try the Hugh Fearlessly-Eatsitall recipe for Boston baked beans from "Meat". Particularly yummy with a large lump of home-cured bacon in it for extra flavour [/foodie wibble]
