Chris__ Posted August 4, 2004 Share Posted August 4, 2004 Me again :) When I put the clutch in my SLR idles quietly. When I leave the clutch out though, it sounds a bit like a cement mixer. I think it might be the CRB, but the sound doesn't fit the descriptions of the sound on here. Anyone got any ideas what it might be? Chris. AlShack Posted August 4, 2004 Share Posted August 4, 2004 Presuming it's the 6-speed box (standard on SLR?), I think the old adage "They all do that, Sir" comes to mind. Apparently (for want of a better technical description) the cogs chatter around on the shafts when in neutral. I'll try increasing the tickover, that should stop it stalling when it's first started too. buroz Posted August 4, 2004 Share Posted August 4, 2004 If your CRB was being noisey, it would happen the other way round. I.e. push the clutch pedal and the noise appears. However, being noisy doesn't necessarily mean that it's gonna fail soon. Mine did about 1.5 years before I changed mine and it was still all working fine.
