christian.v
Has any body got one of these surplus to requirements that they want to sell? I believe (Could be wrong on this) that there are 2 types: 1.Allows use of screen 2.er..doesn't And they also come in tall and normal heights. Thanks in anticip'

Peter T
In steel or Titanium Support the 7 Society...... Ehhh?
christian.v
Peter, I would go for titanium (were it possible), but you would only insist that it was stainless--and I couldn't cope with your eventual admission that your eye for materials was less than 100% 😬 😬 So , ordinary steel then please
Irrelevant
Hi woolly . . .. what's brought this on then? Anyway . . .. IIRC there are at least 3 cages: 1. My type (roadsport) - ugly - hard to get in and out of, even through the top - pretty light (same ball park as FIA cage) - screen fits nicely - all standard weather gear fits over it 2. Superlight cage - pretty - easier to get in and out of - don't think windscreen or roof/doors fit (may be wrong) 3. New cage - pretty similar to superlight cage My guess is you are after a roadsport cage so you can use your windscreen in non L7C sprints. After a hi-vis (pocketted side) driver's door if anyone's got one?
christian.v
Hey Adam, I think--and according to the pic in my parts book--the cage for the LA car is more like the superlight type with the curved top orifi(?) but is specific to the LA--different fixing and the shock tops come through the fixing plates at the front. My prime reason is to add weight to the car in a constructive manner to negate my weight advantage over lardy DD cars 😬 Know of any lying around anywhere 🤔 🤔
Matthew Willoughby
The cage in Caterham's live axle parts catalogue is the superlight style one but the only live axle cars I seen those on are Fireblades. Most live axle cages are the roadsport style cage as seen on my live axle graduates car here and here. All of the graduates cars have this style cage. I believe that you can use a windscreen with both types of cage but can only get a hood on with the roadsport cage. christian.v
Matthew, thanks for that. What is the cage in the LA parts book then? Nice car BTW, what colour is that?
Matthew Willoughby
i don't know what the cage is in the catalogue. It could be a mistake or maybe that cage is available for live axles. You'd be best off ringing Caterham - they've always been very helpful when I've called them. My car is McLaren orange.
Martin H
Wait a minute - that's my car................. oh, no it isn't, I sold it........ ☹️. I think the supplier for the roll cages changed recently (at least for the live axle/"roadsports" version). I wasn't aware the design had changed significantly though. As Matthew says, probably best to call Caterham to clarify. Nice pics by the way Matthew (and looks like my Fury will be ready for Cadwell - gearbox parts arrived from Japan this week).
