Paul McKenzie
Anybody know what the recommended sealant is for reassembling Mike Barnby slit rims? Thanks, Paul
Rob Walker
Silicon sealant, Bathroom stuff should do the job.
Paul McKenzie
Cheers, Rob, but I wondered if there was something more exotic required 😳, since acetic acid and aluminium are not the best of bedmates in theory, but I suppose the concentration is low and even lower after curing. Dickie Normuss
If it is Silicon sealant you need make sure it says "Silicon" on the tube. Sounds obvious but lots of the cheap sealants are acrylic based and are inferior Seek forgiveness, not permission.
Graham Perry
I suggest you ring Mike Barnby to ask him the technique to seal them. He explained it to me and it was not quite the way I would have thought. Trouble is I have forgotten what he said and only remembered its importance 🙆🏻. I do remember him saying that most people do it wrongly and then have to do it again after getting leaks 😳
Gambo
IF YOUR WORRIED ABOUT THE ALIMAKE SURE YOU USE NUTRAL CURE ,NOT ACITOXI (ACID) CURE. HIGH MODULUS STICKS BETTER TO METAL THAN LOW MOD. 😬 😬 have blown something! I'm sure
