Gridgway
what about a-frame bush with the dd tube? Graham
CHRIS CLARK
As Graham says, the 'A' frame bush would be the first point to check! These can last 4,000 miles or if oil has got on it maybe 200 miles. It doesn't have to be 'your' oil [leak] either. Spilled diesel can have the same effectthumbsdown.gif
stevefoster
The De dion bushes last much longer than 4000 miles normally. i.e. no oil. Mine are on 9000 miles no probs and other I know are similar. I will replace at 10000 miles as part of a 10000 (track and road) mile overview...
EFA
Even my A frame bush has lasted 4000 miles and is still going strong.... Blatman
Sound like the A-frame bush could be the most reliable part of K2 RUM. You realise, of course, Arnie, that you have just jinxed it, don't you.id=limegreen> wink.gif
andy oliver
I can sometimes detect a slight clunk if driving on a very bad surface, but can find no witness marks on the A frame. However, the A frame/chassis mounts are very close together and I wondered if the bush flexing might allow them to touch. Peter Carmichael
I think the post 96 A-frame bush lasts forever. Mine is on 30,000 miles. If this is at low speed with small amount of power on, might mean you have a limited slip diff, which is a good thing.

Jason Plato
If you have the "big brake" option on the rear , check that the handbrake cables are secure and not banging on the fuel tank . Dave
rynicolson
Jimmy, I just changed to a SL with LSD... it could well be this as the 1.4SS I had was very quiet, the new car (OK with no interior trim) is so noisy, and yes I get the clunking at the rear end... worried me for the first 100 miles (spent most of the trip waiting for something to fall off!) then realised that it was the LSD... at least I hope it is!?! millsn
i HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAD A SIMILAR SOUNDING PROBLEM. It turned out to be that the links for antiroll bar at the rear had worn through the rubbers that surround each end. As such they knocked against themselves sometimes. Very cheap to fix though. Suggest if you have an a/roll bar at the rear, that you check this Nigel Mills - 2.0 Zetec carbs
EFA
Mine was clunking before the front of the chassis departed form the rear.....
