Rob Morris Posted March 7, 2000 Share Posted March 7, 2000 I built a new Vauxhall powered car in 1997 using the type 9 gearbox. The ratio's are very power even considering the torque and power of the 2 litre engine. For three years I accepted that the box was acceptable, however, third gear broke last summer after 3,500 miles! This is quite a common fault, so I fitted an SPC semi-helical box. This unit whilst expensive has transformed the car. Previously I would strugle to hit much above 30mph in mechanical comfort, now the car shoots up to 55 without any problems Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
