Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted June 30, 2004 Leadership Team Share Posted June 30, 2004 At Oulton yesterday my Xflow seemed to fill up the expansion bottle quite readily and then sprayed wings, offside of engine bay. A mate of mine who is more mechanically minded than me (who was there) reckoned I might want to get the crankcase pressure tested. Was he being alarmist or is it just down to the old engine 🤔 Rog
Mark Gregory
They all do that Sir! Mine does anyway. I now fill the engine to halfway between full & minimum on the dipstick. This has cut it down dramatically, during a 20 min race I get about 25mm of oil in the catch tank. Obviously you need to keep an eye on the oil level to make sure it does not fall below the min. level. It does not necessarily mean your engine is sha66ed. Mine still goes well - touch wood. John E
Its normal on a wet sumped engine. Mine does it on track days and there is nowt wrong with my motor. Run Baby Run does it really have anything less than full throttle
DW
I was at Oulton too Roger with my Xflow and yes I emptied in once at lunch and once before departing. Interesting thread a couple of days ago suggested feeding the breather pipe into the rocker and then the breather from the rocker cover I think. In this way the oil isn't lost so easily!
