Coo, tempting. I don't do many miles at the mo which makes a classic a "sensible" choice. They *are* very cool. You are right about the price when new, they were E type money.

Masha, re your original thread or a related one, I've had a browse for F500Abarths in Fr but they are RH droppings. I suspect the net may turn 'em up but the key phrase is "specialist enthusuast only"

Thanks for looking for me Richard, there's not many 500 Abarth's about hence the high prices for a restored one, lots of replicas based on standard 500s, which are okay, but its a bit like a upgrading a Classic 7 to R500 spec.

No problem - I like to distraction of talking about Italian cars and I agree the Fulvia is one of the best things to come out of the Fiat/Lancia stable (apart from Abarth 500s and Delta Integrale's of course).

PS Like your latest as in Low Flying for your carbon bits batteredoldsupersport - top notch extras - very nice to see.

Masha, I think you may have got me confused with another Blatchatter. My name is Steve Corcoran and I live in Saumur, Fr 49. Richard of CF fame lives at the other end of the département in Pouancé, Fr 49 (or near enough), about an hour and a half from me, and posts as "Richard in France". I do see Richard from time to time and I've helped him out with some of his product testing (mostly blasting about in a prototype aeroscreened 7!) but we aren't the same person!

Regards

Steve

Just goes to show how Italian car's capture the imagination and are so emotive though as I also posted a thread for my brother's old Renault GT at the same time - not one response on that but 10s of responses discussions related to the 1969 Fiat. (not that there's anything wrong with Renaults - acutally chasing a Clio Williams at the mo and would like a Clio V6 one day, latest one is supposed to be very entertaining).

My only Fiat that I actually bought for me to use was.................... a Fiat X1/9 1500 5sp. Loved the concept. Hated the electrics and rust!!!!!! It also used to drive me to disraction with its single pot sliding caliper brakes which didn't (due to 'solid' brake lines) and therefore squealed and the rattly aluminium wheel centre trims.
