K-series crankshaft sensor - where?

Roger Ford

Recommended Posts

Caterham racing notes suggest disconnecting the "crankshaft sensor" after changing the oil, in order to turn the engine over on the starter without it firing to build up the pressure.

Only nowhere does the book tell me where to find the crankshaft sensor! Can anyone tell me?

There doesn't seem to be an obvious connector that I can see.

The normal build manual suggests disconnecting the inertia switch, but I don't have one of them anymore.

I'm told it can trigger when driving over racetrack kerbs - which is the main reason.

Also, in the event of a minor shunt, it's going to prevent you from rejoining the race. We thought about relocating it inside the cockpit (so you can reset it without getting out) but in the end decided to just remove it.

I'm not recommending this approach - it's just what we've done on my car.
