Andrew Dent
I have just put fresh brake fluid in the car(SLR), and am not satisfied with the feel of the pedal. I used an easy bleed to get all of the air out. THe pedal has a soft feel to the first part of the movement which I dont really want. What is the best way to get a solid pedal? Peter Carmichael
Easy bleeds are renowned for not being very good. A two man bleed sorts out most problems, although there is advantage to be had from jacking up various ends of the car. The long run to the rear can trap air, so try jacking up the rear left (the longest run) and pump a lot of fluid through.
robmar
you may also want to tap the callipers to dislodge and remove air bubbles rob
PACR
Make sure your brake fluid isn't full of bubbles... In my innocent youth I shook a bottle to determine how much was left before bleeding the brakes on a Mini - big mistake. Wasted loads of fluid until I figured it out.... Found best thing on my Seven was to bleed brakes as normal then leave overnight having tapped calipers etc. Bleed again next day, got a much better result. R2D2
What type of brake fluid did you use ? Some of the silicone fluids seem to give a soft pedal feel.
elie boone
Put some pressure on the reservoir 0.8 bar,to do this thake an old reservoir cover, drill a little hole in it and put a airgun in the hole.It is a two man job but very easy to bleed the system this way.
