Sprint classes...

Myles

Recommended Posts

Having just done my first bit of sprinting at a Curborough test day this week, I was wondering what class my car falls into so that I can check the recent results and gauge where I might have come and whether I should give it a proper go...

The car is an untuned 1.6 k-series (with competiton exhaust, if that makes a difference) and I managed a 63.97 on hot CR500s - but would probably use my RE720s...

with a time like that class 2 would be the best for you *wink*

Class 3 are very unfrienly (and can not spell) and do not what more compotition. 😬

If you do join class 3 rather than 2 you will be more than welcome. *biggrin*

On a serious not, cr500 do not last long, since joining class 3 I have gone through quite a lot of rubber. I have since mored to 32r 's and this has improved my times. If cost is a factor then class 2 is the way to go.

good luck in witch ever class you join.

Thanks for the info.

I don't think I can justify CR500s on a long-term basis - I did wear quite a lot off them... ...and a job would be quite handy sometime soonish...

Could be class 2 then... *wink* If only the timing had worked on the single run I put in at the end of the day on my (cold, road) 720s, I'd have a much better idea of where to go... ☹️

Myles,

RE720's don't stick very well warm or cold! (neither do many other list 1A tyres!).

CR500's are likely to be worth at least 2 seconds, possibly more.

A high 65 second run would be very creditable for a first time out!

Why not try and get a last minute entry for MIRA, and join us in class 2?

I'm getting serious withdrawal symptoms chaps so may just try to get an entry in for Curborough 2.

Not at MIRA as I'm off on holiday. Not quite sure what to do as I'm not taking the 7! Still, hopefully it'll be a relaxing time. 😬
