SV driveshaft failure

Dave Townley's n/a cossy powered SV broke a driveshaft at Santa Pod recently whilst only using road tyres. I understand that this is the first such failure for an SV shaft and as such Caterham Cars replaced the shaft foc *thumbup* Fortunately the failure happened at the start of a run resulting in no damage to the car or driver. The break was a clean one at the wheel end.

In light of this I wondered whether the SV shafts are the same design as standard De Dion shafts (albeit longer I presume) ? If the shafts are longer then I wondered if standard Sierra Cosworth (turbo) shafts were a direct replacement (as no n/a engine in a Caterham would break these) ?
