MartinB
I have seen an ex racecar that I am interested in (road registered), the only problem with it is that it does not have a key ignition. What sort of security could I fit at a reasonable cost and where would can I get it from, ideas on cost would be helpful as well as a sensible way of stopping the car getting nicked. shn7
Or if you really need it retro-fit the ignition switch (as I have). will probably mean changing the upper steering column as it may not currently have the bit on the column that the steering lock latches into. Lock (with keys) from CC about £35 IIRC. Steve.
Support Team Shaun_E Posted May 27, 2004 Support Team Share Posted May 27, 2004 Don't fit a normal ignition switch - it weighs loads and the barrel/key bangs your leg - best to fit an immobiliser of some sort. Take a look at Julian Thompsons website where he actually removed the barrel and replaced with keyless ignition. Shaun Yellow SL #

Bafty Crastard
"Remove the steering barrel and fit keyless ignition" is a standard upgrade isn't it, every body dose it ! R300 NUT
drB
what might be more important is checking with your insurance company first..... they might insist (or you might at least get the best quotes) with a Cat 2 keyless immobiliser fitted BiB add to Heyford Academy Day fun!
