Tony Whitley
Take some cornstarch, some tap water, and vibrate. Very bizarre - watch the video: at about 2 mins in, it gets very weird indeed. http://chaos.ph.utexas.edu/research/vibrated_cornstarch.htm here (link grabbed from this week's New Scientist) Edited by - Tony_Whitley on 13 May 2004 15:25:

scooby dooby doo
My company is called Nonlinear Dynamics, and that's the name of the department that did this research ❗ We do bioinformatics though - getting information about proteins and stuff from pictures of them after splurging. Alan L
A fascinating piece of video. I want to know how they found this out ? Who thought to try it in the first place ? Did someone come back to the lab after going out to the pub at lunchtime and think I now lets try ......

KevSull Too
Tony, the Blimey was for the surprise shown by me when watching the video, and the 'bored' was the assumption I made on how you went looking for this kind of media. I was facinated by the video, and showed everyone in my close proximity in work.... It reminded me somewhat of the example of non-newtonian dynamics in a starch based solution when Brainiacs did the walking on a swimming pool of custard demonstration. 😬You laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same. 😬
