Super_Rich_Bernie
I used to have a cast alloy synchronising meter with a clear graduated indicator whcih made it easy for someone as tone deaf as me to balance carbs. Sadly I lost it in a house move and have replaced it with a cheap and nasty plastic affair from Halfords which is less adequate. Can anyone suggest who may supply something of a higher quality? thanks Jonathan
Casbar
I bought mine from a specialist carb shop. It cost around £45.00 and is also plastic. The ones in the Demon Tweeks mag are plastic as well. I've had mine for some 3 years and it is still fine. I suppose its all down to how often you expect to balance your carbs, for the usage my meter gets, plastic is fine
CHRIS CLARK
The Demon Thieves one is the same as the genuine 'Weber' one is the same as the one supplied by Caterham. All as stated around 45 UKP.They are silver plastic with a horizontal graduation scale. They work fine!
Petrolhead
I agree. Have used mine for over 5 years and still working as new. Better to go in a blaze of glory than to fade away teeth.gif

stevefoster
The Sychronsier (my attempt at foriegn) is good. It looks like a shell. Good race shops and Weber do them. Very accurate even between units.
oilyhands
The type of device described only measures air entering the rear of the carb, on some carbs air is bled in from other sources to balance airflow between barrels on the same carb, this is not measured when balancing and can give a false impression of the airflow thru a particular barrel. A manaometer is the correct device to use, this is attached downstream of the butterflies and gives a more accurate picture. For most simple tweaking a 12 inch piece of rubber hose does the trick.. mine is still in perfect working order after 20 years and only cost 5 shillings.
