Red SLR
Guys I am hoping to change my oil over the weekend in my 1600K. Now I have changed oil regularly on all sorts but never anything with an anti cav tank. Is there a procedure to follow? Or is it just a case of drain the old and change filter and replace with new? Thanks Simon. X777CAT
Paul Ranson
The oil/air separator tank has its own drain plug and will retain some oil. It takes a while to fill the tank from the sump, and while this is happening there is no oil pressure. It's probably worth taking the plugs out and cranking it for a while. Or you can remove the breather pipe from the top and fill it separately. Paul
CHRIS CLARK
Think the 'Apollo' tank's drain plug is magnetic so you can check for any steel particles attached; oh joy!!!!!!!

TorAtle
As Paul says, take the plugs out and crank it until pressure builds up. Took 20-30 seconds last time I did it. Would not recommend filling the tank up from the top. Takes ages!! Tor Atle
TorAtle
Oh one more thing, I poured the last 2 litres of oil into the engine while I cranked it. Don't know if this is a bit over the top. Tor Atle
Red SLR
So the procedure is 1 remove filler cap 2 remove sump plug 3 remove tank plug 4 remove filter 5 replace filter 6 replace sump and tank plug 7 remove spark plugs 8 pour new oil in to cam cover 9 crank engine to fill tank 10 after oil level is ok replace plugs 11 start up and check pressure 12 teeth.gif drive! Is this correct? Ta. X777CAT
