How much power can I get (upgrading x/flow) ?

Recommended Posts

I have a 94 DD 1700SS. (std AX block)

I'm interested in upgrading my 1700ss engine.

How much power Can I get by 85mm bore-up, installing forged piston and proper cam ?

Does it must be done by x/flow specialist??

(unfortunately super7 is extremely rare car in S.Korea. so there is no x/flow specialist...)

I want to get some information about engine upgrading by non-x/flow specialist...

From my point of view, a non specialist could do a bad work.

However, you can just replace piston by forged ones

same for conrod

buy an unleaded stage 2 head from burton or any other specialist

and you will have a reliable 140/145 HP

To reach 10 HP more you need a real specialist

and special cam with adjustment

and some work on te compression ratio

very difficult to achieve with relibility for a non specialist

Just gone threough the same process and if you can find a good genuine low milage engine then it is going to be the easiest route. Obviously if you want to get a unit built go for someone with a good reputation, preferably on recommendation, and just get it shipped out.

A word of warning most of the people I spoke to with regard to buying a 'freshly rebuilt' engine had bad stories to recount about 'specialist companies' and most ended up taking there engine from the first 'specialist' to effectively be rebuilt by a genuine company.

thanks for replying

simply installing forged piston, con rod, tuned cyl.head sounds great..

but, sorry...I'm really novice..

Can you tell me what piston, conrod, head is needed exactly ?

(I searched requred parts in Burton Power ....piston- what diameter? , conrod - wide journal ? narrow journal ??, cylinder head - st.2 1600XF? or 1300XF ? I'm sorry , I have no idea of difference of these parts ...)

I 'm novice....if possible, please tell me as possible as easy.. ^^

Hi Tipo Have a looc at Vulcan Engines web site. It breaks down some of the kits which they build and shows power graphs for several of these.here

Good luck!

HI Tipo,

I am also of Korean origin with X-flow seven.

I am surprised to hear that there are Sevens in Korea!

By the way, you can easily have 160 bhp for an X-flow engine. Even more for an AX block.

Drop me an e-mail at: ysin@hotmail.com We can have some chats!
