Support Team Shaun_E Posted April 30, 2004 Support Team Share Posted April 30, 2004 I want to order a bullet cam lens today - what size does everybody use? RF Concepts offer 4.3mm, 2.9mm and 8mm. Also is the microphone in the kit usable - I know it's not that great from other posts but will it do to start with? Shaun Yellow SL #
_Tim_
The videos on my site (see sig) are with the standard supplied lens - not sure which size it is off the top of my head. The supplied mic is a bit crap, but I found it's improved if you tape it to the top of the dash in front of the windscreen. - Tim - 2004 Caterham Academy competitor build diary here
Support Team Shaun_E Posted April 30, 2004 Author Support Team Share Posted April 30, 2004 I think 4.3mm is the standard size. I've looked at a couple of your videos and the viewing angle looks fine so I'll order the 4.3mm. Thanks, Shaun Yellow SL #
Support Team Shaun_E Posted April 30, 2004 Author Support Team Share Posted April 30, 2004 I ordered an 8mm lens as well so I'll be able to experiment. 😬 Yellow SL #

Support Team Shaun_E Posted April 30, 2004 Author Support Team Share Posted April 30, 2004 Jackal, Do you mean use the 8mm one? Shaun Yellow SL #
Roger Ford
Jackal - what makes you say that? It works fine for me - maybe your requirements are unusual? Tim - yours video's a bit wobbly - what mount are you using?
Roger Ford
The widest would be the 2.9mm one. But perhaps he does mean the 8mm. The standard one is quite wide - if you want a closer view of stuff in the distance it would make more sense to go for the 8mm.
F355GTS
Shaun I had better resuls with an 8mm over the standard, Once you've reduced them for Web etc the films taken using the std one make it a bit of a spec in the distance, unless you are driving right behind somebody Mark
