Peter T
No, it's just that when i bought my head bolts i bought three lots as it was cheaper as my supplier did not want dead stock. 😬 Support the 7 Society...... Ehhh?
EFA
Why don't you use std head bolts. Are you not aware they can be re-used up to 6 times with no issues. Fat Arn Slay the K. Edited by - Fat Arnie on 30 Apr 2004 10:58:
Peter T
I don't like to skimp on fasteners, when you consider that they basically hold your entire engine together I prefer using studs as opposed to bolts which is easier to align the head on the block. Most of my original head bolts were all different lengths, so quality is not high priority on GM mass produced low powered engines. Support the 7 Society...... Ehhh? EFA
My post was based upon Swindon's recommendation! This was standard T/C practice! Fat Arn Slay the K.
Peter T
Not sure that many other reputable engine builders would agree with you there arnie. Support the 7 Society...... Ehhh?
EFA
Peter, I am expressing the opinions of a world class engine builder, not those of myself. I am sure those who portray themselves as experts and then give misguided advice (as I have proven twice with two lesser organisations) like to make money through the sale of consumuble items on such as basis. Peter T
Point taken, but i still prefer to replace all fasteners with quality units as it is my choice, just like others prefer using Optimax fuel over cheaper supermarket varieties Support the 7 Society...... rocky
I'll try and let you know ASAP (These will be for someone else's engine) I'm looking for all other parts for a full rebuild ,especially a good quality head gasket. I with you on the fasteners . If in doubt fit the best you can get. Cheers Mark
EFA
The GM head gasket is fine up to 12:1 and 86.5mm bores. Above 88mm you'll need a Cometic Fat Arn Slay the K.
Peter T
Or if you want to spend less time scraping old gasket from you soft alloy head then a Cometic is your best choice Support the 7 Society...... Ehhh?
