WOODPECKER IN FUEL PUMP

DAVID L

Recommended Posts

1992 HPC CARB_X FLOW. The fuel pump clatters like the devil, incessantly, seemingly just behind my left ear Not too bad with hood off but drives me to distraction with it up. Any simple solution?

Use the load peddle more, and get a Straigh Cut gearbox - I find that they make more noise than the woodpecker ;-)

On a serious note is there a cheap solution to this ?

Try using rubber bobbins.

Is it the square impeller type or round Facet?

The square type are very very noisy if just mounted on the ali rear bulkhead!

Quietest I have used out of these 3 is the Weber pump. It is very quiet indeed.

James W does them for £35 odd.

I have recently moved my facet pump to the lower nearside corner of the rear panel, and to stop resonance have used some pads stuck onto the ali. They are exactly the same as those you find on the bottom of domestic sinks and seem to work quite well. Also discovered that there was a slight leak in the system beween the tank and pump. These babies suck hard (!!) so can suck in air from the smallest gap. Now its all fixed and pump mounted upright, its quite civilized.
